Lauderdale County authorities say they've caught a local man trying to lure young boys through the Internet and Facebook.
The LCSO said it was notified over a month ago by a child's family. Officials say they were able to gather enough information to get a search warrant and then charge 40-year-old Christopher Todd Shelton, of 236 Smith Spur Road, with computer luring, a relatively new charge in Mississippi. His bond was set at $25,000.
"We are asking citizens that, if they have family members that have been in contact with Shelton, please contact us as this investigation is still ongoing," said Sheriff Billy Sollie.
There were numerous items taken from Shelton's home that are being analyzed at this time.
"Based upon the investigation that led to the search warrant we believe that he has had multiple contacts with people via Internet and social networking," Sollie said. "Most of these individuals fall into a certain age group and gender."
Sollie said contact has been going on for several weeks between Shelton and an investigator posing as a young person.
The sheriff said there should be concern any time an adult is talking to a minor in this fashion.

There is a thin line between sanity and insanity. If so many people were aware of this guy's mental instability, why didn't anyone speak up? I'm glad the child's stepmother pounced on top of this matter before something more serious occurred. This is aweful!
This young man is NOT a Catholic priest. He also has claimed to be an Episcopalian priest. He needs to be kept off the streets and away from children.
Is this guy around 5ft tall?
