The Mississippi Court of Appeals has rejected the post-conviction claim of a Meridian man convicted in a Kemper County murder in 1999.

David Martin Robert is serving life without parole for the murder of Lakel Cross, who was shot six times. It happened outside a Porterville night club.

Robert was convicted by a Kemper County jury in 2000, but he argued that his lawyer should have done a better job.

The court ruled Tuesday that his lawyer made some mistakes, but they did not affect the trial's outcome.

His whole family is a menace to society...Everyone of them has been to jail except the mother and she accepts it she just hides behinds the church. And well the daddy is in jail for life, the brother was part of the drug bust a couple of weeks ago and the other brother and sister has been in jail or there's a possiblity they are in there now. So I say again he is in the best place he can be and aint nobody railroad him he just got what's coming to him...

I agree JUST ME...Studies have been done to show black individuals get more time than white individuals, hands down. I do think Blacks should do less to come into contact with the law (i.e breaking the law). The majority (Blacks) only have one time to make an impression; there are no second chances for many.We do have to do better as a race and and thats not to say that we don't have Blacks that don't excel because we do. But there is too many that are locked up, some mistakely judged and some judged accordingly.The leading cause of dealth in the Black community (approx. 15-30) is homicide. I pray that we do better for our kids. And we will in due time.
