Texas Gov. Rick Perry is the easy winner of an Alabama Republican straw poll.
Perry had 101 write-in votes of the 205 total votes cast
Saturday at a party executive committee event in Birmingham. The
straw poll came a day after Perry spoke at a state GOP fundraiser.
The No. 2 finisher, former pizza executive Herman Cain, had 47
votes.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was third with 36 votes.
U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachmann received 24, and former House Speaker
Newt Gingrich had 11 votes.
None of the other people who received votes was in
double-digits. Others include U.S. Rep. Ron Paul; former Minnesota
Gov. Tim Pawlenty; former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum; former New
Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson; and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
