Republican nominee for Mississippi, Stacey Pickering was in the Meridian on Thursday to unveil his "Contract for Accountability". He said it's a plan for better state government.
Pickering told a group at Meridian GOP headquarters that he wants to make sure all elected officials are doing the jobs they're supposed to with the taxpayers' money.
"The auditor's office is the most critical office for our local elected officials," said Pickering. "I firmly believe we need someone with experience working with the legislature, the local elected officials, as well as federal agencies, so we're holding public officials accountable for the jobs they've been elected to do."
Pickering will face Democrat Mike Sumrall, who previously served as the county administrator in Forrest County, in the Nov. 6 general election.
