The Democratic candidate for state treasurer of Mississippi has listed at least six major issues for his campaign.
Shawn O'Hara of Hattiesburg brought his message to Meridian this week.
O'Hara said his platform is condensed to 78 words that may be found at www.msdemocrat.net.
He says there is a lot of frivolous spending in Jackson that should be stopped.
"By lowering gasoline prices, we can build 200 Ethanol plants throughout Mississippi and create 8,000 new jobs," said O'Hara. "We can flood this area with fuel that could be as cheap as $1.75 to $1.90 a gallon. Or if it's sugar cane Ethanol, $1.21 to $1.35 a gallon."
O'Hara also favors no tax on groceries and no increases in the cigarette tax.
O'Hara is challenging incumbent Republican Tate Reeves in the Nov. 6 election.
