Friday is the deadline for Congressional candidates to qualify to run in Mississippi's primaries.
Lauderdale County resident Greg Hatcher Wednesday became the seventh candidate to qualify to run in the third district.
Hatcher works in his family's business consulting group, The Hatcher Group. He has a communications degree from the University of Alabama.
The Republican said he'd like to change the tone in Washington.
"I decided to run because of all the animosity and hostility that I've been seeing in Washington. I believe that that is injuring our influence overseas and also hurting the people," said Hatcher.
Hatcher said he favors simplifying the tax code and limiting the role of the federal government.
The Republican and Democratic primaries in Mississippi are Mar. 11.
