Randy Eads, one of two Democrats running for the third district congressional seat, spent much of Tuesday in east Mississippi.
Eads said he wants to help get more money for Mississippi schools from the federal government.
"In Mississippi alone, we spend about $6,300 per pupil. The national average is about $8,800," said Eads. "If elected, I will introduce legislation that will require the federal government to pump in the difference, about $2,500."
Eads will face off against Joel Gill in next week's Democratic primary, Mar. 11. The winner will face the Republican nominee in November.
