One of the candidates seeking the congressional seat for Mississippi's third district campaigned in Meridian Thursday.
Gregg Harper is one of seven Republicans in the race. He said he believes the momentum is building for his campaign.
"We're strong on the issues, on fighting against illegal immigration," said Harper. "They also know from a personal standpoint that we have a child with special needs, and we're committed to helping families who are raising such a child. And at this point, you're trying your best to get the vote out, to make sure people show up at the polls."
In addition to Harper, John Rounsaville, Gregory Hatcher, James Broadwater, Bill Marcy, Charlie Ross and David Landrum are all running for that seat on the Republican ticket.
Joel Gill and Randy Eads are the only two Democrats in the race.
