Gregg Harper defeated Charlie Ross in the Republican runoff today in central Mississippi's 3rd congressional district.
With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Harper had 29,351 votes, or 57 percent, compared to 22,178, or 43 percent for Charlie Ross.
Harper will face Democratic nominee Joel Gill in the November general election.
In conceding the race Tuesday night, Ross pledged his support to Harper.
Cong. Chip Pickering, a Republican who has held the seat for ten years, did not run for re-election.
