A second Georgia executive involved in a failed Mississippi beef plant has pleaded guilty to giving illegal campaign contributions to a Mississippi official.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported that Nixon Cawood entered the plea Wednesday in U.S. District court in Oxford.
Cawood pleaded guilty to the same charge for which his Facility Group colleague, Robert Moultrie, entered a plea Monday.
Moultrie admitted he and Cawood in 2003 agreed to give then-Gov. Ronnie Musgrove a $25,000 campaign contribution on top of an earlier $20,000 donation.
Moultrie said the donation was meant to ensure goodwill, should the men need help later.
Musgrove, who is now running for the U.S. Senate, says he did nothing wrong and was not influenced by donations. He has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
