The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs sponsored a candidate forum in Meridian.
The organization said it wanted to provide a platform for candidates in the November elections to speak and for citizens to get to know the candidates better.
"As you know this is a very exciting political year. I don't remember a time when I've seen the country more energized over an election," said association member, Gayle Lynch. "And in order for us to make the best selection possible, we need to be informed. We need to know what the issues are and we need to know within ourselves what's important to us when we go to the polls in November. "
A group of about fifty people took advantage of the opportunity to hear the candidates.
