The candidates in Mississippi's competitive U.S. Senate race are preparing for what could be their only televised debate this campaign season.
The one-hour debate between Republican Sen. Roger Wicker and Democrat Ronnie Musgrove will air live on WTOK-TV at 7 p.m. Friday. It will also be broadcast in other markets by WLBT Jackson, WTVA Tupelo, WABG Greenville, WDAM Hattiesburg, WLOX Biloxi, and WMC Memphis.
Wicker and Musgrove are competing to fill the final four years of a six-year term started by Republican Trent Lott.
Gov. Haley Barbour appointed Wicker to temporarily fill the Senate seat after Lott retired last December. Musgrove is a former governor who was unseated by Barbour in 2003. The election is November 4.
