One of the candidates running for the Mississippi Supreme Court, Central District, Place 3, campaigned in Meridian Wednesday.
Jim Kitchens is a former district attorney and defense lawyer from Crystal Springs.
He's seeking the post now held by Chief Justice Jim Smith, who is running for re-election.
Kitchens spent time in Lauderdale, Noxubee, and Kemper counties.
"I'm finding that people in Mississippi have lost confidence in their judicial system," said Kitchens. "We have a lot of good men and women on the bench, but at the same time, we need to restore the public confidence in our judicial system from the top down. That's why I'm running for the Supreme Court."
Ceola James of Vicksburg is also running in the non-partisan election. She is
a former chancery judge for Mississippi's 9th District.
