Democrat Ronnie Musgrove's campaign says the latest TV ad from Republican Sen. Roger Wicker is "a desperate political trick" in a U.S. Senate race.
The ad, approved by Wicker, uses an actor to play a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fund raiser. The actor takes money from people portrayed as representing abortion-rights and gay-rights groups.
Musgrove campaign manager Tim Phillips says Wicker is treating Mississippi voters like they're "pretty dumb."
Phillips says that Musgrove has a long record of putting restrictions on abortion and of opposing marriage and adoption by same-sex couples.
Wicker says "left-wing" groups are trying to elect Musgrove.
The special election to fill the last four years of Trent Lott's seat is Nov.4.
