As of 8 p.m., Sen. John McCain is leading Sen. Barack Obama in the race for the presidency by a 50 percent to 50 percent margin in the popular vote nationwide. However, Obama is leading in electoral votes.

Independent and other party candidates are getting 1 percent of the vote nationwide. That's with 7 percent of the precincts reporting.

Obama has won 107 electoral votes in 11 states and the District of Columbia. He is leading in 5 states for a total of 76 more electoral votes.

McCain has won 34 electoral votes in 4 states. He is leading in 10 states for a total of 122 more electoral votes.

Independent and other party candidates has not won any state and currently not leading in any state.

In the 435 U.S. House races, the Republicans have won 26 seats and are leading in the races for 84 seats. The Democrats have won 39 seats and are leading in the races for 93 seats. Independent and other party candidates have won or are leading for 0 seats.

In the 35 U.S. Senate races, the Republicans have won 4 seats and are leading in the races for 6 seats. The Democrats have won 8 seats and are leading in the races for 3 seats. Independent and other party candidates have won or are leading for 0 seats.
