A resolution has been filed in the Mississippi Senate to revive a proposed cigarette tax increase.
A proposal to raise the state's 18-cent excise tax died this week after lawmakers failed to reach a deal by a legislative deadline.
The resolution filed Friday by Sen. Bill Stone of Ashland would suspend the deadlines so the measure could be brought up again for more negotiations.
It would take a two-thirds vote by both chambers to suspend the rules.
