NAACP Sponsors Mayoral Forum

The Meridian-Lauderdale County chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring a mayoral forum this week.

The public is invited to attend the forum Thursday at 7 p.m. at EMEPA Auditorium on Highway 39.

A panel of NAACP officers will ask questions, along with members of the audience.

Five people are seeking the office of mayor of Meridian: Cheri Barry, a Republican, and four Democrats, Percy Bland, William Compton, Joe Norwood, and Casandra Sloan.

The primaries are set for May 5. The general election is June 2.

You want to paint Mrs Sloan as the black people's candidate and inject race into the campaign go ahead play the race card. But just so you know Mrs Sloan is a candidate for all the people. She is the only canidate in the race who is not bought and sold. She is the most passionate canidate she really cares about all the citizens of Meridian young, old, rich, poor, Asian, Black,Hispanic, Indian, or White everybody. If tough question are asked at this forum great. More tough questions need to be asked. Just like the old saying if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen!
