Incumbents Fare Well in Meridian Primaries

Meridian city councilmen who faced opposition in the primaries easily won Tuesday.

Ward 1 incumbent Dr. George Thomas defeated two Republican opponents, Wally Hudnall and Jesse Barnett, by winning 62% of the vote. Hudnall placed second with 33%. Barnett took 5% of the vote.

Thomas faces no other opposition in the June 2 general election, so he wins another term in office.

In Ward 4, incumbent Democrat Jesse Palmer, Sr., defeated challenger John Nelson by getting 65% of the vote.

Palmer wins another term, because there is no other opponent in the June 2 general election.
