Young Laid to Rest

Mississippi state Rep. Charles Young was laid to rest Wednesday in Meridian.

A funeral service was held at his home church, Newell Chapel CME Church.
Hundreds of people packed the building to bid farewell to Young, who died Apr. 29. He had served District 82 since taking office in 1980.

Following the service, Young's body was taken by horse-drawn carriage to Sunset Memorial gardens for burial.

A memorial service was held Monday at the MSU Riley Center to salute Young and recognize his accomplishments in the political arena and business.

Mt 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

That is what I liked about Charles Young and his family. Class, nothing but class, even until the end. God Bless and may he rest in peace.

Mr. Young, or "Pops" as we called him, we forever be a legacy, hero, and friend to those of us that knew him. He will never be forgotten. I remember playing at his house as a kid and him laughing at my sister and I telling Deidre and my mom to leave us alone and let us play and be kids. I Love You Pops!!!!
