A Sept. 4 sentencing date has been set in federal court for late Jackson Mayor Frank Melton's ex-bodyguard, Marcus Wright.
Wright pleaded guilty last year to misdemeanor conspiracy for his role in a 2006 police-style raid led by then Mayor Frank Melton.
A grand jury indicted Melton, Wright, and Michael Recio, also a former bodyguard, on three felony counts.
Melton died in May prior to the beginning of his and Recio's second trial. The first trial ended in a hung jury. The charges were officially dropped against Melton after his death.
Recio then agreed in May to plead guilty to misdemeanor aiding and abetting for his role in the raid. Recio's sentencing was set for Aug. 5 when he entered his guilty plea.
