Mississippi lawmakers are juggling budgets for this year and next. The House and Senate Wednesday are scheduled to consider the first draft of plans to pay for state government during the fiscal year that begins July 1.
The House will pass bills to fund half of the state agencies, and the Senate will deal the other half. Then, the two chambers will swap bills for more work.
They're scheduled to finish the budget by early April.
The Senate, meanwhile, is expected Thursday to consider a House plan to restore some of the money that's been cut from the current budget.
