Democratic candidate for sheriff of Kemper County, Cornelius Parks, told Newscenter 11 that an assault charge filed against him by his brother was dropped Wednesday.
It stemmed originally from an alleged incident in June at Parks' residence.
Parks claimed all along that it was politically motivated and the he was innocent.
Parks faces incumbent, Sheriff Sam Tisdale, in the Democratic primary on Aug. 7.
