The Mississippi Police Benevolent Association has formally endorsed Republican C.D. Smith in the House of Representatives District 84 race.
The organization said it chose Smith after interviewing all the candidates on law enforcement issues, like the officer due process bill and the holiday compensation bill.
"Of all the candidates, we feel like C.D. Smith had the best answers. He seemed the most sincere of all of them. He seems to have a plan," said Jerry Jordan, president of the east central chapter of the Mississippi Police Benevolent Association.
Republicans Tad Campbell, Hugh Davis, and William Shirley, Jr., are also running, along with Democrat William Lee and independent Cecil "Matt" Hemphill.
