Rusty Harrison, a candidate for District 1 supervisor of Lauderdale County, Tuesday announced his endorsement by the International Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO.
The seat is open. Current supervisor Eddie Harper is not seeking re-election.
Harrison said he's grateful for the support and says new leadership is needed in the office.
"By being a professional firefighter here in Meridian and assistant chief of the fire department in Bailey, both positions are in a leadership role," said Harrison. "And I believe I can use my leadership skills in those positions to promote this county in a positive way."
Harrison is a Republican. He faces two other Republicans in the Aug. 7 primary, Hank Florey and Bill McBride.
