Alabama Voters Decide Referendum Tuesday

A measure on the ballot Tuesday for Alabama voters
seeks to amend the state constitution to allow the transfer of $437.4 million from the Alabama Trust Fund to be used for Medicaid, prisons and other state services.

Some legislators and tea party groups have spoken out against it.

A new political action committee headed by Montgomery businessmen Guice Slawson and Guice Slawson, Jr., has run radio ads against it, but proponents have raised far more money for their campaign.

Supporters say passage of the amendment will not bankrupt the fund and that opponents are being misleading.
