Quitman, Miss. Folks in Clarke County had a little fun and shared an important message, as adults and elementary students competed to answer the question, "Are you fitter than a 5th grader?
Participants say it's a way of trying to confront the issue of childhood obesity.
The challenge pitted Quitman Upper Elementary against city employees to see who is in the best shape.
"One of the things that's important is physical fitness," said Mayor Eddie Fulton. "And with our state having such a high obesity rate, we're trying to do this in reference to challenging our kids. Now, they're beating the dickens out of us right now. "
Fulton says the city hopes to make this a yearly event.
