Meridian, Miss. Meridian Mayor-elect Percy Bland Thursday announced a plan to prepare for the future, before he takes office.
Bland released the beginning of his Blueprint Meridian, a plan to kick-start his transition into office. He also released a promotional video for it. Click the link below to view it.
Bland has appointed a 29-member transition team, divided into five areas that will help develop a plan for the city going forward.
Bland says each team will present its findings no later than July 1 to Dr. Marty Wiseman, who will analyze the group reports and present a final report to the new mayor.
He says the teams will reconvene in October to evaluate progress in their respective subject areas of finance, education and community development, public safety, infrastructure, and city/county partnerships.
"I think there's going to be some good things that come out of these transitional team meetings," said Bland. "And I think a lot of ideas and things that we can get done will come out of that, a lot of short- and long-term plans."
Bland will take office July 1. He'll be sworn in at a ceremony at the Temple Theatre. But exact details have not yet been announced.
