Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant made a stop at the Neshoba County Fair Thursday.

As is tradition, the sitting governor was the final speaker of the two-day political portion of the fair.

Bryant addressed a variety of topics, from healthcare, to the balanced budget, to education.

Bryant has announced education will be at the top of his 2013 legislative agenda. One item he wants to see passed is teacher performance pay.

"We'll be able to identify the best teachers, and then we can reward them," Bryant said. "The better teacher in the classroom, the one thing that much studies that I read tell us, the one thing that helps most when the child gets to school is that teacher."

Bryant has also made it a goal for every child to be able to read at a third grade level before entering the fourth grade.
