Gov. Phil Bryant has scheduled a special election for Apr. 3 in the Noxubee County superintendent's race.
Bryant acted at the request of the Noxubee County Circuit Court, which declared the necessity of a special election. It determined that absentee ballots cast in the Aug. 2, 2011, Democratic Primary for superintendent of education were not properly processed.
Because only Democrats were on the ballot. the primary served as the election for the office of superintendent of education.
Two candidates were on the Aug 2 ballot. According to documents submitted to the Mississippi
Secretary of State's Office, Roger W. Liddell defeated Kevin Jones by a 2039 t0 1962 margin.
