Butler, Ala. The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce held the official groundbreaking for a new McDonald's location Thursday. Business and community leaders helped to mark the occasion.
Owner/operator Steve Murray of Meridian says he recognized an opportunity in butler.
"Butler's a great location. We've been looking at Butler for a long time and just finally found some property that fit the need," said Murray. "And they're excited about us being here. And and we're just, we're just glad to be growing with them."
Murray owns McDonald's franchises in Meridian as well, and his wife and daughters are involved in the business.
"it's going to mean more tax revenue for us and more jobs," said Mayor Michael Williams of Butler. "Steve and Vicki (Murray) are really welcomed in our community."
The franchise will be built at 221 East Pushmataha Street.
A meet-and-greet was held after the groundbreaking so locals could meet the town's newest business owners.
