The Meridian City Council voted Tuesday to rescind an ordinance it passed at its last meeting.
The measure had placed a limit on the number of dogs allowed per household.
The council passed the three dog limit as a way to deal with nuisance dogs and animal neglect. But there was a public outcry objecting to it.
Council members say they plan to work on a new ordinance that includes permits for people who have more than three dogs.
