Members of the Meridian City Council are expected to interview the new candidate for police chief next week, before a possible confirmation vote.
Mayor Cheri Barry has appointed James Reed to run the department.
The Meridian native and former NCIS special agent is expected to be in town Monday. Reed will be interviewed by council members, in groups of two, that day.
The council meets Tuesday at 9 a.m. for its regular meeting, and could vote on whether or not to confirm him then.
