Lauderdale County may be interested in filling the federal court space in Meridian.
The U.S. federal court system announced Tuesday it would no longer use the federal court building's courtroom and offices on the second floor of the downtown post office.
The meridian building is one of a half dozen closing across the country.
Lauderdale County supervisor and board president Joe Norwood said the county may be interested in renting it, as a way to solve some of its space problems. The building is only two blocks from other county offices.
