New voters or those who have moved to a new address need to register before the end of the week at your circuit clerk's office.
Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson says her office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, and also 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 2.
"Every time somebody moves they need to let us know. They need to correct their address. It's not legal to go back and vote in your old precinct," Johnson said. "So we encourage people to come on down and see us. If they've got their voter registration card and they've moved, they can make those changes on the back of the card and mail that to us. Name changes or address changes can be done on that card."
Johnson points out that some local races will be decided in the primaries, which take place Aug. 2. The general election is Nov. 8.
