Denson Officially Concedes

The chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, Beasley Denson, has conceded that he lost his race for re-election to challenger Phyliss Anderson.

Denson sent a letter to Choctaw leaders Tuesday, making the concession, and calling for the Choctaw people to rally around Anderson.

Anderson won the elections Sept. 6, defeating Denson by a margin of 2,139 to 1,602.

Anderson also won a runoff held July 5, but those results and the ballots from the regular June 14 election were tossed. Officials said there were voting irregularities in the Pearl River and Conehatta communities, and new elections were held there for tribal council as well.

There are many examples in the Bible of women who were used mightily by God.....when men weren't getting the job done. Esther, Deborah, Abigail come to mind. Some verses about women are simply misunderstood either because of ignorance or design. But don't tell me women are not or cannot be leaders.

U r so wrong Brenda. Your church must be a cult. In the Bible it states that women cannot be leaders in the church. Look Brenda just quit being sore that beasley didn't win and get over it. You have to realize that things change in our growing world and religion is separate from politics. Women are not slaves and your so called church are not slave owners I don't think. Women are great leaders and can prosper with help from the choctaw people. Go get your degree and let's see you prosper instead of getting handouts and fuss about things. You make things brighter instead of making comments that doesn't make sense.

I've got a question. How come nobody is talking bout the FBI? They have been collecting files and interviewing people for several weeks. Not just Beasley's supporters but Phyliss's too. What's up?

You go to church?! I believe the only person who can judge is the creator. So you seem superior to everyone else with that "u people". Tell us the name of your church so I know to stay away from. Many single mothers have taken charge of their household because the partners did not want to be responsible with what they create. What's wrong with a women in charge? You stay in the kitchen while single mothers work for their children.

How about a woman's place is to take care of the family that the father abandoned, or is too drunk to take care of, or dies. I'm a Christian woman & God gave me a wonderful husband that was able to keep me at home with my children. But also I worked, did the housework & took care of the children on top of the work. It is hard with a dual income & with a husband helping. My husband & sons are far better cooks than I am. But take the husband out of the equation & it is a struggle for a woman. And I am so glad that a strong woman will take a stand & empower women & give women a voice. Maybe the men have screwed the tribe in the wrong direction & it's time for a woman to unscrew the wrongs that have taken place. Go Ms Anderson. Maybe Denson should take up a job at a hamburger joint.

Phyliss won so the tribe needs to work together and get behind The new Chief. To move the Mississippi Band of Choctaws Forward.Denson's supporters need to get over the fact that he lost and work toward a better day for the Tribe.I worked for the Mississippi Band of Choctaws for 15 years and have a lot of friends that are Choctaws.

be sure to say that when service, programs and jobs are cut including your six months 500 paycheck. im just looking out for myself now. i never trusted the council or the office of chief. when things go from bad to worst. i bet you will be one of the first to jump ship and deny your support to a failed tribe government. when that happens, all i will say to you i told you so.

How the heck are you going to condemn Phyliss Anderson's administration over 1 fool that is accused of a committing a crime. If he is guilty Phyliss had nothing to do with it. If he's guilty let him go to jail but Phyliss or her soon to be administration had nothing to do with it. If everyone is guilty by association then B.D. will certainly go to jail.

Maybe the Federal Goverment should look into how the hospital and health care system on the reservation is being run.

Its as if you have no knowledge of how the healthcare system works at all. The Federal government still mandates rules and regulations with our healthcare system. Of course, it is being "managed" by a Choctaw, but the regulations and standards are those implemented by the Federal government so that Medicaid and Medicare resources can be utilized to pay enormous medical bills for some of our own Choctaw people.
