Democratic U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson's
campaign war chest tops $1.2 million, far more than his Republican and independent opponents, according to recent filings with the Federal Election Commission.
The FEC reports cover the period ending June 30.
Thompson is running for an 11th term in Mississippi's 2nd District.
Thompson's Republican opponent Bill Marcy of Vicksburg, formerly of Meridian, reported
$5,853 on hand while independent Cobby Williams of Canton reported $2,114. Reform Party candidate Lajena Williams has not reported raising any money.
The election is Nov. 6.
