Focus Now on November

In the first of two reports, Newscenter 11 is looking at Lauderdale County supervisor's races. Party nominees have been chosen, but not all of the races have been decided.

"Now that the primaries are over, I'm focusing on how I'm going to run against the incumbent," said Harry Routt.

We sat down with the challengers in the District 2 and District 4 races to see what is next for their campaigns.

District 2 challenger Greg Lane, the Democratic nominee, says he'll continue what he's already started.

"So far we, my team and I, we have placed a lot of signs out in the city, in the county. We've gone door-to-door," said Lane. "We've taken all invitations that've been offered to us, and we've used the Internet; we've used mailings. So, i think the people are aware we are out here and that we are a viable candidate."

For district 4 challenger Harry Routt, a Republican, it's continuing to meet the people.

"I intend to be out there, to be looking at things in the district, asking questions, finding out what I can do to make the lot of District 4 and the county better," said Routt.

If elected, these challengers could be two of several new faces on the board of supervisors. With many dissatisfied voters apparently out there, whoever gets elected must be willing to carry out the will of the people.

"The most important thing is to be able to work with the incoming board," said Lane. "The people need to be able to see that we can work together, respect each other, and, not that that's what they're sending you there for, they're sending you to get a job done, but you can't get that job done if you can't sit down together at the table and discuss issues."

In Part 2, the incumbents in Districts 2 and 4, Wayman Newell and Joe Norwood, will share their thoughts.

Seriously, who is Harry Routt? I don't one thing about him. Will you show your face to us? I would like to vote for a Republican but not one I do not know anything about. Please show yourself.

After almost 3 full years in office, Obama supporters are still blaming Bush for our poor economy. When will the good times roll under Obama? I thought he was going to change things...I guess for the worse. I cannot see giving the Dems another 4 years to take us from bad to worse. It really can get worse you know. Obama seems to be trying to kill our ecomony to try to convince us to be a socialist nation. I can't wait to have a good president again. Anybody but Barry.

Need to get out with the REPUBLICans to get things done right & moving in the right direction. Yeah, I remember who got us in this mess, a DumboCRAP congress & a Dumb-0-CRAP WH with out of control spending, waste & management. We reigned in half, now to take on the other half. Most people have forgotten that we live in a REPUBLIC! :D
