Got Boots? Inaugural Ball Reflects Bryant Style

Invitations say black tie and boots are optional for Phil Bryant's inaugural ball.

Mississippi's Republican governor-elect is well known around the Capitol for wearing cowboy boots with his business suits.

The 57-year-old Republican from Rankin County finishes one term as lieutenant governor Jan. 5.
Bryant will be sworn in as Mississippi's 64th governor at noon Jan. 10 at the Capitol. A parade is planned for downtown Jackson that afternoon.

Bryant's inaugural ball begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Jackson Convention Complex, and tickets are $50 per person. The inaugural theme is "Rising Together."

Bryant was elected Nov. 8. He succeeds Haley Barbour, who served two terms, the maximum allowed by state law.
