Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said Thursday that he has led the effort to improve business laws and promote fair elections. He says his office also has increased the state's revenue from publicly owned tidelands and 16th Section school lands.
Hosemann was in the real estate business and an attorney in private practice before being elected in November 2007.
The 63-year-old is traveling the state this week to launch his re-election bid.
Hosemann will make the same announcement Friday at 8:30 a.m. at Jean's Restaurant in Meridian.
Hosemann is the only candidate for secretary of state, so far. The qualifying deadline for statewide offices is Mar. 2. Primaries are Aug. 2 and the general election is Nov. 8.
