The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center got a vote of confidence Wednesday in the Mississippi House.
Speaker Pro Tempore Greg Snowden of Meridian says east Mississippi's delegation is working together in both chambers to secure funding for the statewide center planned for downtown Meridian.
The House passed the bill by a 117-1 vote. It would appropriate $25 million in bond money, in increments of $5 million a year, to build the arts and entertainment center.
Snowden says Senators Videt Carmichael and Terry Burton are working on similar legislation in the Senate, and there's still plenty of work to do to make it a law.
