Houston, Palmer Discuss Appointing City Leaders

Meridian, Mississippi Just three days to go now until voters head back to the polls to settle a couple of hotly contested races.

Incumbent Jesse Palmer, Sr. and Democrat Kim Houston are competing for the Ward Four seat on the Meridian City Council. Palmer and Houston both say there is work to be done in Ward Four, but tell Newscenter 11 it starts with the council making sure proper leaders are appointed in each of the city's departments.

"We have rules and regulations set up for any choosing of heads of departments and things of that nature," Palmer says. "And those were violated to a large degree."

"We have to put leaders in place that understand the reality, if you will," Houston says. "And the real purpose of what we're trying to do in this city."

Palmer and Houston will be featured on Sunday's edition of On the Record with John Johnson. That airs Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on WTOK-TV.
