The judge in Alabama's gambling corruption trial has refused to toss out any of the 27 charges
against the six defendants.

Defense attorneys asked the judge to throw out some or all of the charges based on a lack of evidence.

U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson announced Tuesday morning that he had denied their
request.

The jury in the gambling trial will spend all day Tuesday and part of Wednesday listening to closing arguments.

Prosecutor Edward Kang was up first Tuesday. He told the jury that the defendants killed the integrity of the Alabama Legislature in an attempt to protect electronic bingo casinos. He said casino owner
Milton McGregor made it clear that senators who supported gambling could expect big campaign contributions.

The defense will present their closing arguments next.
