The search for the next police chief in Meridian is officially on as Chief Lee Shelbourn said goodbye Friday.
Shelbourn announced his retirement about a month ago, and Friday was his final day on the job.
He worked as Chief for three years in Meridian, but his career in law enforcement spans decades.
He says he leaves his job with no regrets.
"The only thing I want is for people to say it's a better place because he was here," says Shelbourn, "I just want to know that I did everything I could possibly do to make a difference."
No word yet on who will replace Shelbourn as Chief.
