Top lawmakers are increasing the estimate of how much money Mississippi has available to spend on state government programs this budget year and next.
The Joint Legislative Budget Committee met Tuesday. Members voted to increase the current year's revenue estimate from just under $5.1 billion to just over $5.2 billion.
They also set an estimate of nearly $5.4 billion for the coming year.
The current year, fiscal 2014, runs through June 30. Fiscal 2015 begins July 1.
Lawmakers say the new numbers reflect predictions that the economy will continue growing at a modest pace.
