An expert says Mississippi's economy is slowly recovering but is still 'feeble'.

State economist Darrin Webb says Mississippi ended 2011 on a strong note, with 3.4 percent growth in the final quarter. He expects slow growth in 2012.

Webb also says he expects the state to meet its expected level of revenue collections for the fiscal year that ends June 30.

Webb and state Treasurer Lynn Fitch gave legislators an economic briefing Thursday at the Capitol.

Fitch says Mississippi maintains a strong bond rating and is well below is constitutional debt limit.

Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and House Speaker Philip Gunn say lawmakers need to be cautious while writing a budget for the fiscal year that begins
July 1.
