The Mississippi Republican Party says at least two GOP presidential candidates plan to appear in the state before the March 13 primary.

Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania is scheduled to appear Wednesday at campaign rallies in Tupelo and in Jackson. On Sunday, he will appear at a rally in Meridian at Weidmann's, and also a rally in Gulfport.

Tuesday, the Mississippi GOP listed a more specific agenda for Santorum:

March 7
Tupelo- Rally at Hawkeye Sheet Metal, 4:30 p.m.
Jackson- Rally at the Ag Museum, 7 p.m.
March 11
Meridian- Rally at Weidmann’s Restaurant, 12:30 p.m.
Gulfport- Rally at Lookout Steakhouse, 7:30 p.m.
March 12
Biloxi- The Gulf Coast Energy Summit, 10 a.m.

Former U.S. Rep. Newt Gingrich of Georgia is scheduled to appear Thursday in Jackson, Tupelo and Southaven. He's also doing a $250-per-person fundraiser that day at a Jackson restaurant.

On March 12, Gingrich and Santorum are set to appear at the Gulf Coast Energy Summit in Biloxi.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will decide later whether to make appearances in Mississippi. That's according to Austin Barbour of Jackson, one of his national finance chairmen.

I think it is great that these folks are coming to mississippi and alabama when the whole process has not already been wraped up for a change. I cant wait to hear what they have to say, and who knows maybe get to shake the hand of the next president of the united states. I for one am looking forward to it.

I, for one, cannot wait for Rick Santorum to come to Meridian. I think if people would stop blindly following the media and actually do some research then they would see that he is probably our best chance. He's faithful to his beliefs and isn't afraid to say what needs to be said. Yes, he is a little blunt, but that's hard to find in a politician. Most of them just talk circles around a question.

So Greg, who would you like to see come to M-Town?

Oh, Rick. Rick, Rick, Rick. I'd love to watch you, if only to see what horrible, evil, ignorant thing will fly out of your mouth next, and then see which of my so-called fellow citizens cheer for it. It's like watching a train wreck. But in the end, I think I have to politely decline and say, "No thanks, Rick, we're all full up on insane religious people here. Go sell crazy somewhere else."

Johnny, why don't you allow him to have his freedom of speech? This isn't a Santorum sponsored website where you can considering his comment irrelevant or's a public webpage hosted by our local media and the comment section is intended for readers to share their opinion about whichever particular article or event they happen to be concerned about. Some folks like Santorum, a majority of folks don't....that's life, deal with it. If you want to censor people's comment or belittle them about, there is a great place called China or Iran where you don't have to bother yourself with people's right to speak their mind.
