Alabama Congresswoman Terri Sewell hosted a "Congress in Your Community" postal town hall meeting in Gainesville on Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting was to provide an opportunity for residents of the 7th Congressional District to share their views and concerns. Sewell also discussed Congress' recent victory to save rural post offices, including the Gainesville Post Office which was scheduled to be closed.
"I want you to know we have written numerous letters," Sewell said. "We have supported mail carriers and their efforts to make sure they save their jobs. We have supported rural communities such as this one to make sure that the post office remains open. "
Sewell was elected to represent Alabama's 7th district in 2010. She will seek re-election later this year.
