It was standing room only in the Lauderdale County board room Monday morning.
Properties on which taxes have not been paid went on sale.
Each property will be auctioned to the highest bidder.
According to Lauderdale County Tax Collector Stanley Shannon the number of properties that are for sale due to delinquent taxes has increased.
"Somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000, which we think is large," said Shannon. "It's about like it has been the past few years; it continues to grow a little each year. There are more parcels for some reason people are not able to pay the taxes."
Shannon says that because of the large number of properties, the tax sale will continue throughout the week.
