A town hall meeting is scheduled for tonight to discuss preserving historic districts in the city of Meridian.
City councilman Bobby Smith says he called the meeting to look at possibly altering the status of the city's Nationally Registered Historic Districts. Currently, property owners are not limited to what sorts of changes they can make to their property. Smith tells us he is looking at setting guidelines that would control things such as what color homeowners can paint their house.
The meeting gets underway at 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of Union Station.
