Tribal Council Set for Another Special Meeting

A special meeting of the Choctaw Tribal Council has been called for Tuesday to discuss the issue of the overturning of the results of the June 14 tribal chief's race, among other things.

The tribal council voted to throw out the results of the recent chief's race, won by Phyliss Anderson in a runoff July 5 with incumbent Beasley Denson, because of perceived voting irregularities.

Council officials say a vote could be taken to put those results back in place.

This is humiliating! Miko Denson was voted out; now, why can't the current Tribal Council do anything? They talked as if they would be strong and uphold the interests of the Chahtas. Do you not have any knowledge beyond politicking your way into the Tribal Council seat? Come on, Miko Denson will run all over you all if you allow him to, which is what you all are doing. Someone, please STAND UP FOR THE CHAHTAS!!!

Why has all this commotion stirred the media? Why is that our own chahta people are exposing our (Tribal)business to outsiders anyway? Its only hurting our people, our elders, our children, grandchildren, & those yet to be born. And some tribal members have the gall, to be making comments knowing that, after all this is over & done with, they'll be sneaking out of this state in the dead of night, heading back to where they live like dallas, chicago, wherever.Unlike the rest of us that actually lives in this state, we know & understand what our Tribe's needs are & each of its 10,000 members. And those that want to say anything to the media, are you bringing to light the incidents that occur daily on hwy 16, or the harassments, profiling when you go into Philly? And don't forget to tell about the city cops beating down on an armed Tribal member just because he might smell like a double mint gum. or for looking at the cop the wrong way. Those are real issues that needs to be addressed. Outsiders don't care if we have jobs or not, don't care if your child goes hungry, needs a new pair of shoes or not. Before you make another comment or call the media about our(Tribal)meetings, think about it. It might be you that gets pulled over on hwy 16. What's in it for you, for giving information to the outside world?

This new councilmen and current ones are acting like little children, please read up on the constitution have it interpreted to you or something. I believe you have no idea on how to run a government, Richard and Roger quit throwing tantrums and stop trying to bully your way around you're making the former council look really respectable.

A suggestion for the Tribal Council. Leave your egos at the door. Think of what the people elected you represent their interests. If you don't know that, maybe it's time to step down.

The Tribal Council has already made a final decision and that decision stands according to our constitution and bylaws. If this goes through then that will open up doors for the next set of tribal council to overthrow Anderson's appeal and so on and so on and so on. Let's just vote on September 6 and hope there are no irregularities.
